First of all, I have to say I did not want to spend a lot on this bed because I have an older boy moving out soon, and my 6ft, 200lb 14 year old will be taking his room and bed. Right now, the 14 year old is using the full size portion of the bed with no complaints...he was too big for his other twin size bunk bed, which we'd had for many years anyway.
The bed went together in about four hours. I did not do it myself, but didn't hear much complaining from the person who did the work. He did say he had some difficulty at one point, but it was pretty easy work for the most part.
The bed looks great....but it is slighty shaky. I would not recommend this bed for those with children who really roughhouse. I issued a warning to my two boys who are using the bed to PLEASE take it easy.
It's a good value for the money though, and looks nice. If you want something that will last for years and years to come, you may want to spend a bit more and get something a bit more durable. Just my opinion.

The lower bunk does not have enough clearance from the top bunk. Mattress catches on metal frame it sits on. The upper bunk cannot hold a tall mattress. It truly should only be used by smaller children.
